ShyforShy

Kerri: Whats your favorite track off the record?
Ryan: Same Like You

Kerri: What were your inspirations for this record?
Ryan: I always loved live music growing up, so given the chance to perform songs on a stage gave me the inspiration to write the record.
Did you write the record yourself?
Ellis: Actually it's kinda weird how the writing process worked... one night Ryan was sick and sleeping. Before he went to sleep he took one more teaspoon than was directed on the Tylenol PM box... he had all these crazy dreams and one of them was some random band playing, the not yet written song, ANGEL. he brought it to practice (fully written in his dream) and we then realized we needed to drug this kid way more often!!! So we slipped more sleeping medicine in his drinks, food, etc etc.. and after about 2 weeks of great sleep and vastly creative dreams the record "So in Time" was written... ok so we lied...that amounted to about 1 percent of the writing... the other 99% was self written. :]

Kerri: Whats your favorite song off the record to play live?
Ryan: "Decisions, Decisions" because of its high energy throughout.
Does that song bring THE BRUTALITY?
Ellis: I would say.... we don't really bring butality BUT if we had to pick a part of the record...Antioch's halftime break brings the BROOtALITY... but "Decisions, Decisions" definately brings the solozzzzzzzz.

Kerri: Who is touring with you guys on your upcoming tour?
Ryan: Our good friends from Portland called The Welcome Home and the brand new Seattle band Remote Control keep your eyes out for them!
Don't you mean ears..?
Ellis: Touche touche!!! Except I really think that you might want to keep all of your senses out for these guys... especially smell... I think they are all sportin some sweet scents such as Hollister, Abercrombie FIERCE, and who knows... maybe even some Lacoste when they are feeling REAL fancy.. if you're lucky enough to get close to them when they walk by, I promise you that your nose is in for a real treat!"

Kerri: What messages do you hope your songs send out to listeners, if any?
Ryan: I hope that our songs can make people sing along and feel like they are apart of this band with us. I hope when they listen they can find an escape to any negative things that are going on in their lives at that time.

Kerri: What three bands would you love to tour with if you had a chance and why?
Ryan: Emery, Taking Back Sunday, and SUICIDE SILENCE... because of their continuous influence on my musical career and I grew up going to their shows and I think fans of those bands would really appreciate our music too. (Well, Suicide Silence, only 'cause they are just THAT "brootal" hahah.)
GREAT ANSWER.

Kerri: Do you have any pre-show rituals? Like sacrificing small animals, children? Or taking a blood oath?
Ryan: Local show, or touring... we always have to ride down to the show in the same van. We also pray right before we play just to get our heads together and in the right place.

Kerri: How the heck does one come up with the name ShyforShy?
Ryan: The name is loosly based on the 80's song "Too Shy" by Kajagoogoo. Weird, we know!!!
Don't you wish your name was loosely based off of the name of the singer's hair in the video for that song?
Ellis: Not so much really... but if we wanna start diving in to some great hair?? Lets change subjects to the late/great WWE sensation RICK FLAIR!!! Now that guy really knows how do WORK the dew!"

Kerri: What does the future hold for you guys?
Ryan: We hope the possibilities are limitless, we are willing to go wherever the future takes us!
WHAT IF THE FUTURE WANTS TO TAKE YOU ON TOUR AT ONLY 24 HOUR WALMART LOCATIONS. YOU WOULD BE PLAYING IN THE FROZEN FOOD SECTION AND ACCOMPANYING YOU ON TOUR/THE HEADLINER WOULD BE HEIDI MONTAG. BUT THE CATCH, YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE STAGE AND PLAY AFTER HER...
Ellis: Here is the deal... have you ever BEEN to a 24 hour Walmart?? They are ALWAYS packed!! That would be the best tour of ALL TIME!!! And the crowd would really diverse, you'd get cheap food at every stop... and the best part is Heidi Montag is AMAZINGLY good looking, and stereotypically, Wal-Mart shoppers are not.. so we would look like Brad Pitt to her every night!!! This tour just keeps sounding better and better!!! SIgn ME up!!! Cough cough I mean US of course.
*Editors note* I have been to a 24 hour Walmart and let's just say they are not quite the target audience and or market for your band/let a lone anything... I suppose the cheap food would be a plus for a touring band BUT speaking of food I lost my appetite for it thinking of the "new and improved" Heidi Montag, I'm talking about the 10 plastic surgeries a day Heidi Montag. If that is your type by all means go for it!

Kerri: Aside from playing music, what is your favorite thing about tour?
Ryan: Meeting amazing people from all different places. And as dumb as it sounds... sight seeing is great too.
What is the greatest sight you have ever seen?
Ellis: Dave you ever been 20 miles outside of Moab, UT in any direction?? DO SO!! 'Cause it's absolutely amazing"

Kerri: Where are you most excited to play this tour?
Ryan: Going to California and also to the South by Southwest festival in Austin.

Kerri: When you tour does your set list change every night or is it usually the same?
Ryan: Since we are new we like to keep a consistent set list to make sure we are the best every night. However some shows call for a differant set of songs... For example this past summer we played with A Skylit Drive, The Chariot, and some other heavier bands in Ft Worth, TX and we had to throw out a couple of the slower and poppier songs that we usually play, to cater the target draw.

Kerri: Did any of those bands influence you as musicians, and how?
Ryan: I feel like everything I've listened to in my life has influenced me in some way or another... whether it was for good OR bad...

Kerri: Can crop circles be square?
Ryan: They can be any shape the aliens desire. :)
In the spirit of Blink 182, do aliens exist?
Ellis: Duhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! What... do you think crop circles make themselves?!?!?! Dumbbbbbbbbbbb question!"

Why do you park on a driveway? And drive on a parkway? In other words, do you enjoy the band Parkway Drive?
Ellis: As the band I Declare War would say... they "BRING THE HEAVY".

Kerri: What happens when you put a lightsaber in water?
Ryan: The water turns blue, green, or red. Depending on what color your saber is until 10 seconds later when all of the water disappears!! Don't ask us how it works.. its the force!!!

Kerri: What do you order from Starbucks?
A Grande Americano with Ristretto shots, 3 pumps white mocha, 1 pump vanilla, extra room, double-cuped.
Have you ever heard of a simple Hot Chocolate?
Ellis: Yah... don't ask.. Ryan works at starbucks.. and I'm sure it's taken him 4 years to create a drink that absurd to everyone else... but it makes him happy.. as for me I have a very special drink there that I created myself that's super easy!! But I'm not ready to give up the secret haha... if you see me at a show.. ask me!!! Maybe you'll get lucky and I'll tell you!"

Kerri: Where is the worst place you've had to eat on tour?
Ryan: There is no such thing as bad food. YET!!!
Then you have not eaten at Krystal's yet!
Ellis: We'll keep that in mind!!! Or maybe we'll just have to eat there to see for ourselves!! Haha"
*Editors note*I highly recommend NOT!
