Battle of the Bands @ Starland Ballroom

As my hometown went to Warped Tour 2009 @ the Gorge, I spent my August 15, 2009, at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. This show was unlike any competition I've been to . This show was The Battle of the Bands, New Jersey edition.

The top 8 bands from all over New Jersey competed in this finale of the battle. My friend and I endured a long trek to Sayreville... a long traffic'd Garden State Parkway. If you know me, you know that one thing I hate with passion of 3 firey suns is traffic. Why? I can't change it & I can't fix it.

Once we arrived on the scene, I got connected with Matt from Danimal Records & Scott from Jersey Shows. They handed me (literally a stamp on my hand... :D ) my press pass, and Matt began explaining the rules of judging the event. Yes, I, Colleen E. Gilfoy, was a judge for the New Jersey Battle of the Bands. (I had to remain complete & uber stealth... very hard on my part.) ANYWAYS, I was also reminded that another photography company was sponsoring the event so my press pass was only effective during Solfege Radio's set. So, I focused on the 8 bands competing.

I have to say, there are some pretty legit bands in New Jersey. It seemed like the next band always was better then the one you just heard. In the end, the band the Statelman won the whole competition. They were my pick to win... and I couldn't help but show my excitement.

My night was pretty much unforgettable... and THANK YOU to Matt & Scott & Solfege Radio for letting me come and participate. It was a huge success. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Here's some shots from Solfege. I hope you dig it... and yes, I changed the name... thingy... on the bottom... just for you guys! ENJOY!
