Facebook. THE ARCHNEMESIS OF HUMAN INTERACTION.

I had a substantial amount written about how annoying it is when you see people you haven't talked to in a long time and they seem to know everything that is going on in your life because of Facebook, but then I realized that if I didn't want people to know anything about me then I wouldn't bother doing anything on the site at all. Both my Flickr and Twitter accounts are attached to my Facebook and I only befriend people I know, but damnit I feel like such a jerk when I don't know anything about some of the people that I am friends with because I don't devote enough of my life to browsing profiles. Maybe I should spend less time studying and attempting to write things for RCA and more time secretly learning about my friends' lives via social networking websites! w00t.

But seriously, since when did the internet become an acceptable substitution for interacting with people in person? God, I'm such a hypocrite, but it's the sad truth. There is so much more that could be said about this, but I will save it for a later time.

Another thing that has come up a lot lately is the concept of so-called "Facebook-stalking." The same thing applies to Myspace or Stickam or whatever-the-hell-else-people-use-nowadays. It's not stalking if you are friends with the person. You're not looking through their window or following them to class; you are on their profile because you are friends with them and reading their publicly posted information. It is not that big of a deal, and it goes both ways. If you post status updates and photos, expect people to look at them.

It's getting late and I'm becoming delusional, so I think it's time to stop now.

If you have anything to add, feel free to comment.
