Champions League Final: Manchester United vs. Barcelona
Manchester United0 - 2Barcelona
If you are not a football (soccer) fan, at the very least you probably know of a team called Manchester United. If you answered "Yes, that is true." in your head then maybe you might have heard the name Cristiano Ronaldo as well, perhaps he is your favorite player. If you have no idea what I am talking about, do yourself a favor and look him up. I will return to him later...
Well yesterday the reigning Champions had their prize stripped from them in brutal fashion. Barcelona is now crowned the greatest football (soccer) club in Europe, which if you know anything about football (soccer), basically means the world. I call myself a fan of the beautiful game and because my loyalty lies elsewhere, other than one of these two clubs, it was easy for me to root against Manchester United. A) I hate them for numerous reasons. B) Our buddy Alex was in town who is a die hard Barca fan since day one. He was fully kitted out, including a full size flag and multiple layers of club pride put over his body in shirt and jersey form. We enjoyed watching the game all of Wednesday afternoon and I doubt there was a louder place around when Barcelona went up 1-0, ten minutes into the game. From that moment on it was complete and utter domination by the spanish predicted underdogs, something so beautiful to watch. A lot of people regarded this match as a dual to the death between Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd) and Lionel Messi (Barca), thought of as two of the best players in the world today. All you need to know is that Messi scored and everyones favorite Ronaldo did not.
The point is, Manchester United fans have a lot to be bummed about. They got outplayed by a world class team and that is all there is to it. Don't worry though, it's not too late to switch bandwagons and hop on over to the Barcelona side. Until next time... go support your Seattle Sounders.
P.S. If you were still rooting for Chelsea in this final, stop...breathing.
