A bit late, but here you go regardless.
Top 10 Albums of 2009
10. Keith Urban - Defying Gravity

Matter of fact songwriting, with one of the best guitar players in the biz today.
9. Sherwood - Qu

Nothing but catchy melodies. Great use of what is now becoming classic "indie" production instruments.
8. Muse - Resistance

This album is a compositionally enlightened album. All the string arrangements were done with great consideration to classical music eras. To fuse it with rock music is pure genius.
7. Manchester Orchestra - You Mean Everything To Nothing

Of course. "Black Man"'s brings back some Nirvana memories.
6. Rx Bandits - Mandala

No click track, no auto-tune, all live tracking. Great grooves.
5. Paramore - Brand New Eyes

A good step from "Riot!". A bit slower, but right in the pocket.
4. The Fray - Self Titled/Monster EP

Such a versatile album. Incredible guitar tones, and all of the bass lines are spot on.
3. John Mayer - Battle Studies

I like to call this album, "Confessions of an LA Playboy". Subject matter is not my favorite, but John always has a way to word things in the ways I've always wanted to. And the guitar tones are incredible
2. Thrice - Beggarsl

Great use of drum and bass grooves. Vocals on "The Weight", and the entire "In Exile" say it all.
1. MuteMath - Armistace

From front to back, every song is its own entity without being mutually exclusive to it's mates. Melody of "Electrify". Drums on "Pins and Needles". Fantastic.
