End-of-the-year list ROUNDUP.
Everyone loves End-of-the-Year lists, right? They appear everywhere at the end of the every year, and it's always exciting to listen to peoples' top picks that you have never heard before.
Music lists:
PureVolume's Top 20 Unsigned Bands of 2009. Tacoma's He is We was the number one pick. Why am I not surprised? I can honestly say that I haven't heard of any of the other bands, so I think I have some research to do.
AbsolutePunk's Top 30 Albums of the Year. A couple of surprises, but nothing to pee your pants over.
Pitchfork's Top 50 Albums of 2009. 50 albums is a lot to sift through, so if you want to check out just the top ten click here. Their number one album of 2009 is less shocking than (insert inappropriate celebrity death joke here). Uh huh. You can just see for yourself.
Pitchfork also has a top 100 songs of 2009 list, as well as a top 200 albums of 2000-2009 list. There are about 500 other lists on that website too, so... enjoy.
If you read Questionable Content, which is the best web comic in the world and if you don't read it I highly suggest you start, you should check out the artist, Jeph Jacques', top 10 albums of 2009 list. Animal Collective is nowhere to be seen! LOLZzzz.
Interestingly (and not surprisingly) enough, Strike Gently posted a 100 worst songs of 2009 list in the beginning of December.
Other stuff:
Since YouTube is the bees knees these days (I sound like an old fart), this is probably somewhat interesting to most people: YouTube's most watched and searched for videos of 2009. Go Miley.
WWTDD, a website dedicating to making fun of celebrities, has compiled a three part list of the top 100 celebrity news stories of 2009. Numbers 100-51 are here. Stories 50-11 here, anddd 10-1 are here. Warning: There is a very dude-ly bias in the judging of the importance of these stories (e.g. Megan Fox kissing a girl is the top story of 2009..). Meh.
I know I am missing some lists, but this is all I've got for now. Feel free to leave a comment and let us know what else is worth mentioning. TOODLES.
