Mr. Humble?
I think not...
Kanye West, one of America's favorite rap icons, can't handle the idea of not being the biggest name in the music industry. In a recent interview with MTV, West stated he doesn't care about being a recognizable face and that he no longer cares about being "the biggest star in the world." For some reason, I find this very hard to believe. Maybe it's the fact that in 2006, Kanye had a major freak out for not winning video of the year at the EMA's... and that now, in 2008, he wins the EMA's, he states that he doesn't care about awards, that they are all fixed anyway! Maybe West has matured in the last 2 years? Or maybe he's realized that he needs to put up a humble front to get even more recognition. Either way, I have a simple hunch, that Kanye West thinks himself as the shit, and is trying every way possible to climb up the top of the ladder to rule over this media infested world.
"People don't even fucking know me and have so much to say." -- You're right, people don't know you. That is why so many people love and worship you. In the same MTV interview as stated earlier, Kanye claims to be one step away from being the Michael Jackson of today. Yet, he says -- "Paparazzi, anybody who comes close enough to me, if I ask you not to take a picture of me, don't ask me something; just realize I am a real person. I am not a celebrity, I'm just famous and stuff, and I make good music." -- Because a celebrity is NOT a real person, duh! "I'm just famous and stuff..." No shit, you're a celebrity... He even said it... "You have got to realize I have sacrificed my life, my anonymity to be a celebrity and to give a lot of myself..." Mr. West, has absolutely no idea what his image is. The famous rapper is clearly trying too hard to be what he thinks, the next MJ... His latest CD doesn't even sound like the old Kanye... The good Kanye that was just (an actually talented) rapper on MTV... has now become the biggest media puppet. Oh what this world can do to a musician....
