Paramore is [the Hayley Williams] band!
On February 17, 2009, Paramore released their video for "The Only Exception". Initially, I was quiet excited because it was supposed to be unlike any Paramore video. The first legit video I saw from them was for "Misery Business". The fire-haired, feisty Hayley commanded a video with such power, setting the stage for the Hayley Williams show. Since then, we've seen Hayley explode all over the mainstream radio. Scene kids all around started dying their hair with Hot Topic hair dyes, buying yellow or red skinny jeans, and wearing vans like no tomorrow. Hayley Williams not only has become a…
Gingers In the News?
You heard that right, fans! There's been some Gingers in the news, well, at least in my world. I think there's a steady trend. They might take over the world. Anyways, here is my quick top 5 list brought to you by Rain City Ambience. :D

5.
Conan O'Brian
Since my favorite comedian of 2009 got shafted by NBC quicker than yesterday's hooker, he's been doing some growing. Well, some personal growth could do him some good. It's attached to his face! That's right! Conan is now sporting the unemployment beard! I didn't know he could grow facial…

And the Grammy Goes To...
First off, can I say how much I do not like Green Day? Does anyone else agree with me?!
I'm disappointed by the Grammy's, for this is the AWARD show, the face of "music". I really don't care about people who can't sing, dance, or move a crowd. But seriously, since when did cencoring Eminem become such a unknown concept? When did the great Stevie Nicks become Taylor Swift's backup singer? Why is Travis Barker playing drums for Drake & Lil Wayne? Who is T. Pain really? Lady Gaga + Elton John? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS!!!
Well, anyways, tonight I…
Monday Morning News
Today in the News:
... Pete Wentz, the most credible musician in the whole planet (hint to sarcasm), told MTV this weekend that Craig Owens, ex-frontman from Chiodos, is the best artist of 2010. I think it's alright to laugh at Pete Wentz once again.
... During an interview with Jeremiah Edmond, the drummer from Manchester Orchestra, has decided to leave the band under a few conditions, including feeling burnt out from being on the road. All in a days work, right? That's kinda what the job entails. Best of luck to him.
... Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday/The Color…

Heavy & Light
On November 24, 2007, Casey Calvert of Hawthorne Heights was found dead in their tour bus after a show with Escape the Fate, Amber Pacific, and others. This death in the emo music world was shaken and the organization To Write Love On Her Arms started an event called Heavy & Light to raise money for Calvert's family. The event was such a success, TWLOHA started making it an annual thing.
Well, Heavy & Light has been held for 3 years now and the list of performing acts keeps getting bigger and better. This year, along with my musical…

School Boy Humor: rising the pop-punk bar.
Back in October 2009, I went to a show at the Marlboro Rec Center in Marlboro, New Jersey as the photographer for Jersey Shows (not to be confused with Jersey Shore... there weren't any guidos to be found.) I was originally there to shoot for my good friends Solfege Radio. My camera died right after there set. BUMMER. I found an outlet near the door and sat for the next few bands. I heard Matt of Danimal Records say that the last band was about to hit the stage and I should take some photos, so I unplugged my charger,…
Colleen's Top 10 Albums of 2009.... and then some.
After reading both
Kelly &
Garrett's picks for 2009, I whispered aloud,
"Crap, my choices aren't NEARLY as artistic as theirs." As I sat there, in my nest of a bed resting off whatever flu like symptoms I have now thanks to a confined space with my family members, I realized that this list is what fancies
MY taste. My taste may not be the most artistic or highest rating with the critics, but this is what I liked in 2009. Hopefully, my list is a little diverse.
So, instead of being just like Kelly and…

Cooking as a way of life; a testimony of therapeutic cooking
During this economically challenging holiday season, there's nothing more calming then a turkey simmering, friends all around, and chesnuts roasting on an open fire. Well, there's no chestnuts here, but there is turkey. Lots of it.
Kelly
posted a blog about her undying love and dedication for Farmville... or Farm Town. Well, here's my confession... I too have a virtual escape. Yes.
I, Colleen E. Gilfoy, play CafeWorld. I have been certainly quick to make fun of these... virtual world players, especially FarmVille. Well, I am now a believer. I believe in the power of CafeWorld.

Xmas-core!
Tis the season for pop-punk/hardcore/rock bands to produce what i like to call... xmas-core. After having surgery during my finals week, I was pandora-ing listening to some "interesting" covers of all our favorite Christmas classics. This season, you won't have to settle for cookie-cutter Christmas tunes. Settle yourself in for a wild ride. We all have our favorite "punk goes christmas" collection. I'll be making my list AND checking it twice.
So, as i compiling this Xmas-core list, tell us:
What is your favorite Christmas song cover?
As you ponder, check out these albums for ideas!

musicals are like....
So, while I've been researching Pandora, Last.fm, and other internet radios, I searched "soundtracks" to see what kind of music would come up. WOW. Some musicals have really great soundtracks. I mean, movies do too (Juno & Lord of the Rings for example), but when was the last time you saw a musical & something spurred you deep inside to find that music, BUY it, and enjoy it?
I love musicals. I used to do musicals. My favorite role was playing the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz. As i was thinking about music & musicals & soundtracks, i thought…

Last.fm vs. Pandora
Personally, I've only actively used Last.fm. I found this website on my own and it's grown from there. Basically, you download Last.fm player to your hard drive, it takes all your music (and it's plays) on your computer, loads it into this database, complies the data, and stores it. It then creates a radio station to what you already have on your computer. You can then tune into other radio stations related to artist or genres. If you're not on your main computer, you can go on your Last.fm site and listen to YOUR RADIO STATION that automatically loads.
Plus,…
The Almost new Video... TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS!
The Almost has officially released their video for their new single "Lonely Wheel". As you know, Aaron Gillespie is my musical husband, so he's pretty darn sexy in this. I think you should take a look-see.
The song is all about how we have this life we don't want to live and we need change. I think this is a pretty big topic, religious or not, to talk about with
The Almost sort of fans. Not that the fans are all emo kids wanting to jump off the nearest bridge or drown in the nearest lake, but…
midterms can eat scum...
As I sit here in my condemned hole-of-a-room, nuzzled in my nest/bed full of warmth, I was rudely reminded this morning that midterms are upon me yet again. You may ask, "Colleen, such a studious scholar such as yourself should have no problem passing your English Education classes. You love English." Yes, I love English. All three of my English courses in my 17 credit schedule are my favorite. Not to mention, I have some of the best professors at my college. BUT, as I think about my major of Adolescent Education (w/ concentration of English & Writing), I wonder...…

Postal people HATE Paramore
THIS JUST IN.... the Postal Service of AMERICA hates Paramore!
Ok, I'm pretty sure I JUST LIED, but I'd like to inform the WORLD (you) that I JUST RECEIVED my copy of Paramore's new album Brand New Eyes today in the mail. When did I order it? September 17, 2009. I was so close to calling the Fueled By Ramen HC to find out where my beloved package went to. My little package went all the way to Albany, NY!!!! Sure, I'm only 20 minutes outside of New York City these days... and Albany isn't TOO FAR OFF... but WHAT…
NeverShoutNever new video!
I've always liked NeverShoutNever (name is an alias for Christofer Ingle). It's not just his cute face, acoustic style, and attractive red hair. He's got talent. That's it. Watch his new video and tell US what you think. It's not like a regular booty-poppin, name droppin', artsy silly pants video... it's a video that entertains & makes you think.

Battle of the Bands @ Starland Ballroom
As my hometown went to Warped Tour 2009 @ the Gorge, I spent my August 15, 2009, at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. This show was unlike any competition I've been to . This show was The Battle of the Bands, New Jersey edition.
The top 8 bands from all over New Jersey competed in this finale of the battle. My friend and I endured a long trek to Sayreville... a long traffic'd Garden State Parkway. If you know me, you know that one thing I hate with passion of 3 firey suns is traffic. Why? I can't…

REST IN PEACE already, MJ!
As a music fan (maybe that's an understatement...), I was sad like everyone else in the world when I found out that Michael Jackson had passed away. His death consumed our television screens, littered the topic of most bulletins on myspace & facebook, and occupied a space on the most discussed word(s) on twitter. His death was a shock and he will be missed. Today is July 27, 2009, and he's still being discussed... It's been over 4 weeks since the King of Pop passed away, and yet, has he had an opportunity to ACTUALLY rest in peace?
This…
