Countdown to Die Antwoord: 19 days.

A couple of months ago I emailed Die Antwoord's publicist regarding their upcoming Seattle show. I hadn't heard from anybody so I followed up last night, and this morning I received an email stating simply "They're not on label anymore." Interscope dropped Die Antwoord for being too obscene, so they are releasing Ten$ion independently on February 7th.

The South African trio will return to the Showbox at the Market on February 20th. You cannot miss this show. They might verbally abuse every single person in the room, but they'll do it with such Zef…

RCA EXCLUSIVE: MayWeather, "On The Run" music video

In case you've been living under a rock, we have our second show coming up! Kelly mentioned it in a previous blog, but we're so excited for the show and who is playing that dedicating a blog post to the headliner didn't seem unnecessary in the slightest.

MayWeather have been around the Seattle music scene for quite some time and with the release of their self-titled EP in October, they've generated a fair amount of buzz. I have to hand it to these guys, they write some of the catchiest…

And the award for best cameo appearance in a music video goes to...

Matthew McConaughey makes an unlikely guest cameo in Butch Walker And The Black Widows' newest music video for Synthesizers, reviving his infamous character, Wooderson, from Dazed & Confused. Kickass song; kickass video. Check out the clip above.

Butch Walker And The Black Widows are playing a benefit show for The Pablove Foundation--a non-profit childhood cancer organization--on Saturday, January 28th in Milwaukee, WI. If you're in the area, you can purchase tickets here!

New music video: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - "Otherside"

This might sound crazy, but I'm in the back seat of a car on the way to the Gorge right now for the Identity festival.. What might be even crazier is that the scenery out here reminded me that I haven't posted about Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' video for Otherside yet.

If you aren't one of the 100k+ people who have already seen it , watch the video above! They've been working on it for a long time, and the outcome is incredible.

Wish me luck this weekend.…

Make Me Famous post new acoustic cover of song "Make It Precious"

Ukraine-based band Make Me Famous have just recorded and released a music video for their acoustic cover of their song Make it Precious. The track is a complete 180 from their usual sound but just goes to show the real talent and flexibility of the band creator, Denis Shaforostov's, voice and writing capability. If anyone doubted Shaforostov's ability to sing, I hope this video helps prove otherwise. Also not to be overlooked is lead screamer, Serj Kravchenko, contribution to backing vocals. It appears not only can he growl like a grizzly bear…

New music video: Sleeper Agent - Get It Daddy

And here we have Sleeper Agent and their debut music video for Get It Daddy. This band kicks so much ass it's absurd. Watch the video above!

Courage My Love Gets Our Attention (and that of a certain Kevin Smith)

In a magical world of hot chicks and good music there is a thin line that no one crosses: The line into Nerd-Landia. Luckily for us the trio that is Courage My Love, stepped over that line and then kicked its graphic novel ass all over the place with "I Sell Comics".

You may be asking yourself "Why in the hell is this even a song?" The short answer, which still happens to be a long answer, is that Kevin Smith (of Clerks/Mall Rats/Red State fame) had something to do with it.

Yeah, this guy:…

Rebecca Black debuts a REAL boring, real but boring, "Moment"

Rebecca Black, music "industry's" favorite unfavorite 13 year-old internet sensation, has released a video to her new single called "My Moment." While the world cringes at the sound of her name, the video stands out as MAD boring (possibly even border line forgettable.)

In all honesty, I was expecting some other catastrophe like "Friday" brought back in April (can you believe it's been 2 months since that song invaded our airwaves?), but this video is simply a waste of 3 minutes and 26 seconds. I expected more from Miss Friday since she was brave enough to make…

New music video: Grynch x Sol - All I Wanna Do

The onslaught of local hip hop continues with Grynch and Sol's newest music video for All I Wanna Do. The shoot took place a couple of months ago in Eric of The GNU Deal's awesome party house in the U District, and... well, madness ensued. Watch the video above, and be sure to check out me and my awesome Tour Mom Says shirt at the 1:31 mark.

Attack of the music videos!!!

So as promised, I am back to share a little bit of goodies with you!

As previously stated, I have been working relentlessly to help some of the Puget Sound's finest put out new music this past year. Something that I am really passionate about (other than music itself), is the fact that I value community and the music scene here in the Northwest depends on the support of people like you. I just wanted to take a moment to share a couple of these bands who've recently put together music videos to the music we created together. I hope…

Adele - more than just a fad.

I've been a fan of Adele ever since I was working at this grocery store called Kings in 2008 (it's a chain in New Jersey.) I was a cashier and this girl came through my line buying milk and cereal, I think. She paused when she looked at my face as I mumbled for the hundredth time, "paper or plastic." The girl said, "You look like this new singer named Adele. Ever heard of her?"

Well, I had heard of her. Reading blogs and planning a trip to London caused me to do extensive research of what was popular in…

New music for your ears.

I have a strange obsession with any music that comes out of the Wild Orchid Children camp. I think their musicianship and the technical ability that those men possess is unmatched by 99% of musicians nowadays. They are some of the most talented musicians I've had the pleasure of seeing perform. They are forming a genre all their own with their various bands and it's exciting to watch them grow.

One band to come out of that group of guys is Ticktockman, featuring Ryan Van Wieringen and Andy Lum of Wild Orchid Children. You might…

The Chariot: Australian Tour 2011

During a recent show in Perth, the Chariot's performance was shut down after they took the show out of the venue--and into what appears to be a deli--via a side door. During this awesome display of showmanship, a bowl of pears was knocked over and ultimately destroyed, causing whoever was running things to shut down power and call it off.

Reason number #467 why the Chariot is awesome: They decided why end it there when people paid money to see a show? Luckily, a fan in the audience's house was already…

If you haven't heard this, you're probably not ready yet.

Sometimes I deliberately wait a couple of months before posting controversial content just so you have a chance to be exposed to it via Facebook/Twitter/YouTube/whatever else you crazy kids get yourselves into these days (who am I kidding? I'm more immersed in social media than most normal people). Tyler the Creator and the rest of the Odd Future crew are no exception. In fact, I've been sitting on this Earl Sweatshirt video for months in an attempt to save your souls from the insanity that is 16-year-old kids drinking…

Yo-Landi Vi$$er is a Rich Bi--

I have a confession to make: While Die Antwoord's music practically makes me want to rip my ears off my head, I can't help but be fascinated by their existence. These two cheeky South Africans (no pun intended.. maybe) are the definition of "over the top," and they clearly don't give a damn of what you think about them. Oh yeah, and now they have a video for their song Rich Bitch. Watch in awe as Yo-Landi runs out of toilet paper, dances around in a gold catsuit, and flaunts…

A Day to Remember release video for "All I Want"

The number of cameos in A Day to Remember's new video for All I Want is enough to make my head spin--and for me to post this as a blog rather than a tidbit of news. Watch it on MTV.com (AKA the only aspect of MTV that actually remembers what their name stands for) and see what I mean.

New D.R.U.G.S. video is definitely N.S.F.W.

Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (D.R.U.G.S.) have released their video for the song If You Think This Song Is About You, It Probably Is on Youtube. You can also download the short film for free on their website.

This definitely takes the cake as far as weird music videos go. I don't even know what to think right now.

If you haven't heard of Drugs, they are classified on their wikipedia page as a "post-hardcore supergroup" comprised of vocalist Craig Owens (ex-Chiodos), drummer Aaron Stern (Matchbook Romance), guitarist/vocalist Nick Martin (Underminded),…

Hayley Williams is 'Playing God' in Paramore's newest video

As many of you already know, Paramore released their video for Playing God this morning on their website. Go watch it now if you haven't already!

I really like the concept of this video--even if the poison-in-the-tea thing was recently done by Lady Gaga in Telephone--and I'm convinced that Hayley Williams can pull off any color of hair (even pink) without looking absolutely ridiculous.

What do you think of Paramore's latest creation? Leave your thoughts in the comments!

And the Japanese one-up us yet again

While browsing my favorite borderline-NSFW website, What Would Tyler Durden Do, at work this morning (I'm a risk-taker), I came across this bizarre post. The headline reads: Hatsune Miku is a huge star in Japan, a 3D hologram. Usually I dismiss titles like this as being anything but the truth, but after watching the included videos I think it's safe to say holy shit, that Japanese pop star is a 3D hologram.

Now I've seen everything.

Hatsune Miku has sold "lots" of records, appears to sell out shows (unless the crowd…

Bo Burnham is at it again...

Terribly sorry that this is a week late, but it's been a long time since Bo Burnham has posted anything on his YouTube channel. Now he's back with another witty ditty (so.. corny..) and a crazy music video that literally had me in a trance by 30 seconds in--and while the song isn't exactly hilarious, I can always appreciate a video that looks like it was made for Kindergartners. OoOoOo pretty colors...

In all seriousness, you should probably check out Bo's newest song, Words Words Words, on YouTube. There are a few negative…

Ra Ra Riot... Na Na New Music Tuesday

Apple Beard Jeans... what?

Alright, so youtube is a funny place when they recommend videos for users to watch. I found this 48 second gem. The bearded man himself, Dan, of Four Year Strong sampling a cover of Flo-rida's single "Low". (Remember that song that played at all our proms that, when played, suddenly made every uber white kid suddenly gangster?)

Honestly, if Four Year Strong sounded more like this, I would probably listen to them. I really do enjoy the occasional acoustic break down, even a good cover or two. Please don't misinterpret what I'm trying to say, BUT if…

New VersaEmerge video for 'Fixed at Zero'

Florida trio VersaEmerge (sheesh, I remember when there were five people in that band) have released their video for Fixed at Zero, and.. uhh.. does this song/video remind anyone else reminded of Evanescence? I'll leave it up to you to watch some old music videos on YouTube (there are a lot), because it's really not important enough to spend the time posting all the resemblances here... Anberlin releases 'Impossible' music video; Kelly is left mesmerized

How's that for a blog title?

Now for something that everyone can be excited about: Anberlin news!.

The guys have just released their video for Impossible, which you can watch on MTV.com (sidenote: MTV should be renamed to Music Internet, because unless it's 2AM I never see music videos on that channel). I don't know if it's because of the two cups of coffee I just downed, but I am completely mesmerized by this video. The photography is just incredible; the shallow depth-of-field and post-processing make my heart sing.

Lady Gaga releases video for ALEJANDRO

If you haven't already, watch Lady Gaga's video for Alejandro on YouTube now.

This is a LOT different from Telephone--and not in a good way. There's a little too much sex and not enough substance. So, in an attempt to find a deeper meaning to this video (as I was completely stumped), I turned to the great ol' Internet for answers. And what did I get? Diddly squat.

A couple of interns at BlackMag speculate that the video is about her leaving (or stomping on) the Catholic church, but they don't really go…

Be sure to read our review of Still Life Still's album Girls Come Too (see what I mean about sexual?).

"The perfect late Valentine's gift for the one you loathe."

Los Campesinos! have released the video for the title track off their upcoming album, Romance is Boring. To be quite honest, I will never understand the logic behind bands not wanting to appear in their own music videos, but I am not really surprised that Los Campesinos! opted out in this case.

Regardless of the band's presence, this video is thoroughly entertaining and definitely worth a watch. Check it out on Vimeo:

The Almost new Video... TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS!

The Almost has officially released their video for their new single "Lonely Wheel". As you know, Aaron Gillespie is my musical husband, so he's pretty darn sexy in this. I think you should take a look-see.

The song is all about how we have this life we don't want to live and we need change. I think this is a pretty big topic, religious or not, to talk about with The Almost sort of fans. Not that the fans are all emo kids wanting to jump off the nearest bridge or drown in the nearest lake, but…
