Madina Lake holding fundraiser to pay for Matt's medical bills

If you haven't heard yet, Matthew Leone of Madina Lake was brutally beaten when he intervened in a domestic dispute. Nathan, the lead singer and Matt's twin brother, posted the following on their Tumblr earlier this month:

"i’m afraid I have some of the worst news that has ever hit our lives. It’s almost impossible to even type this update. A few nights ago, Matthew walked from my apt. a block and a half down the street to meet a friend for a drink. half way there he saw a man severely beating his wife. Being

Take Action Tour raises over $60,000 for Driving for Donors

This was just too incredible to not blog about. Remember the photos of There For Tomorrow I took last week? Those were from the Seattle date of the Take Action Tour, which just wrapped up in Dallas a few days ago.

The impact of this year's tour:

• Over $60,000 raised to help further the mission of Patrick Pedraja and his organization Driving For Donors
• Over 30,000 fans in 31 cities proved that the world can be made a better place
• Tour reaches goal enlisting over 2010 fans to sign up for the National…

Let the bidding wars begin.

The dudes at Krochet Kids have made seven hats that were made to help Haitian relief funds. These hats are up on ebay now, and you can bid through tomorrow. One of them (shown above) is already up to $290, and it's only Thursday night!

ALL profits will be MATCHED by Krochet Kids International, and then given to World Concern and Partners in Health via the One Day's Wages Relief Fund.

Watch the video supporting this cause on YouTube. It should answer any and all questions that you might have!

THIS FRIDAY: Healing For Haiti

This flyer is kind of huge and overbearing, but I would say that the cause is worth the space.

Definitely check out Carly Henley, a friend of ours who is playing at 8:30, and our new friends in Corner State, who are playing at 10:20.

The minimum donation for the show is only $5, and ALL proceeds go towards humanitarian efforts in Haiti. The event is being held at the Columbia City Center in Seattle.

Here's the full lineup:

8:30-9:00 Carly Henley
9:10-9:35 Zach Trandum
9:45-10:10 Jennifer Newberry
10:20-10:45 Corner State (Myspace.com/CornerState)…

Concerts for a cause: Take Action Tour 2010

As a teenager, my two favorite times of the year were around Warped Tour and Take Action, because I knew that with those tours came kickass compilation albums at a low, low price of $6. Every year. These albums never let me down, and I would always end up finding a band to support that I had never given a chance before. To be quite honest, not much has changed between then and now-- I still get stoked for Warped Tour, and Take Action still does a great job of raising money for those in need. I mean seriously, how…

Heavy & Light

On November 24, 2007, Casey Calvert of Hawthorne Heights was found dead in their tour bus after a show with Escape the Fate, Amber Pacific, and others. This death in the emo music world was shaken and the organization To Write Love On Her Arms started an event called Heavy & Light to raise money for Calvert's family. The event was such a success, TWLOHA started making it an annual thing.

Well, Heavy & Light has been held for 3 years now and the list of performing acts keeps getting bigger and better. This year, along with my musical…

Krochet Kids updates. Straight from the horse's mouth.

I just received an update from Kohl Crecelius of Krochet Kids International about the festivities going on this week, and decided to pass them on.

"The Give the Gift of LOVE week is here! During Dec. 7th-14th our goal is to sell 2,000 in continued effort to support our programs in Northern Uganda. Help us give love by purchasing gifts through KKi this holiday season.

A couple exciting things...

Krochet Kids are going... Zumiez?

The past week has been a confusing one for me, the unfortunate Zumiez employee, who opens freight boxes hoping not to be surprised with a shipment of Ed Hardy or Affliction (Sidenote: This has yet to happen at my store, but I hear Alderwood Mall is a different story). Lately, though, I have been pleasantly surprised with the new things that have come in: Glamour Kills' new line, as well as a ton of breast cancer awareness merch, Spacecraft, Casual Industrees, etc.

AND NOW WE HAVE KROCHET KIDS.

Backstory: I met Kohl Crecelius (one of the founders of KK)…
